Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a quartz-controlled direct-drive system preferred?
Direct-drive turntables offer unparalleled speed stability compared to belt-driven models, which can suffer from belt slippage and degradation over time. By utilizing a quartz-controlled brushless DC motor, the Reloop Turn 5 ensures absolute rotational accuracy (wow and flutter are virtually eliminated), translating into pristine pitch and timing representation.
Can I play vintage 78 RPM records on the Turn 5?
Yes. Unlike many standard audiophile turntables that only support 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speeds, the Turn 5 features a dedicated electronic 78 RPM mode. This makes it an ideal choice for high-fidelity collectors looking to catalog or enjoy vintage shellac records (a dedicated 78 stylus/cartridge is recommended for 78 RPM playback).
How customizable is the tonearm assembly?
The Turn 5 is highly customizable. The statically balanced S-shape tonearm features adjustable Vertical Tracking Angle (VTA), allowing you to fine-tune the arm height to match different cartridges or slipmat thicknesses. Additionally, the SME-matching headshell connection makes cartridge swapping fast, easy, and secure.
Are the audio cables built-in or detachable?
The Reloop Turn 5 features high-quality, detachable gold-plated RCA and power cables. These terminals are recessed inside the body of the turntable, protecting your connections from physical damage and allowing you to position the turntable closely to walls or other equipment. This also allows you to easily upgrade to custom audiophile interconnects.
